Advisory services for acquisition of Accurel Systems (Fall 2004-Spring 2005) On behalf of Implant Sciences Corporation, under a Ugroup mandate, advised on the acquisition of Accurel Systems International, a Sunnyvale, CA failure analysis and material characterization services laboratory with revenues of approximately $8M/year. The mandate included integration services.
Developed business model for wafer contamination measurement client (Fall 2004 and Spring 2007) Project
to assist GeMeTec, Munich based maker of wafer contamination monitoring
equipment, to obtain critical mass in global infrastructure and an entry
point into emerging fab-based measurement, as well as recommending new
product directions.
Sourced service labs for consolidation by client (Winter 2004) Identified
and qualified private labs in the organic/pharmaceutical testing
industry as acquisition candidates, based on target profile provided by
client, Air-Liquide-Balazs Lab.
Divestiture of Atomika business unit of FEI Company (Fall 2004-Summer 2005) Successfully completed the divestiture process for the Munich based SIMS/TXRF business unit (previously known as Atomika Instruments) of FEI Company to Cameca Instruments, by positioning the $10M business as a complimentary fit to Cameca’s high-end SIMS product line.
Market and strategic positioning project for Technos Co. (Spring 2005) Provided analysis and a report on TXRF and XRR/XRF instrument technology drivers and market size, as well as a profile of client’s strategic position and options; also made recommendations for future product/business focus.
Developed roadmap for analytical services consolidation for client (Spring 2005) Prepared market and business process roadmap for public company [CANNOT BE IDENTIFIED UNDER NDA] to consolidate analytical service labs; advised client through Section 363 process to acquire keystone entity for consolidation; property was acquired by another group.
Divestiture process for mask repair business line of FEI Company (Fall 2005) Successfully positioned the mask repair business line of FEI Company for divestiture by targeting key competitors; obtained term sheet from one target prior to FEI decision to retain the business unit.
Divestiture of Oxford Nanoscience business unit of Polaron, PLC (Spring 2006) Completed the divestiture of Oxford NanoScience (ONS), the leader in atom probe technology, from Polaron PLC to Imago Company; positioned business as strategic “technology buy”, with value beyond financial metrics.
Acquisition of new technologies for semiconductor equipment client (Summer 2006) Under a mandate from a $200-300M public Silicon Valley semiconductor equipment company, identified and qualified two small companies with leading edge technology for acquisition. The targets had critical niche technology and a successful track record in Japan, and would have enabled client to add product lines; acquisitions not consummated due to market conditions. Consolidation of merchant test/reliability laboratories (Fall 2006) Three
privately held reliability and test service companies have provided
mandates for assistance in consolidation, to be followed by financing,
and merger with a public vehicle for eventual liquidity and exit;
business model has been developed and private merger has been

Market definition/analysis and growth potential study for leading analytical services client (Spring 2007)
Provided an independent market study for EAG Labs, the largest analytical services company, profiling their existing anaytical services market and the adjacent testing/FA sector by size, competitors, growth drivers, and entry/success strategies.
Sale guidance for semiconductor test services company (Summer through Fall 2007)
Provided assistance to DSL Labs during their acquisition by EAG Labs, the largest analytical
services company. Guided client in organization and corporate cleanup to receive top return from buyer. Acquisition closed in November 2007.
Strategic business guidance for Japanese high tech company (Summer 2007 and ongoing)
Providing ongoing guidance under retainer for Sumitomo Precision Products (SPP) to find new product lines and/or acquisition targets.
Turn-around strategy for MEMS equipment manufacturer (Fall 2007 and ongoing)

Retained by Vietnam Post & Telecommunication Group to seek investment opportunities in North America and Europe that would benefit from manufacturing opportunities in Vietnam. Several major projects are under review at the present time.
